So, how many Teams in a Region? This of course depends on how active the Region's players are. The amount of time that can be allotted for all Teams to play each other once will be 3 months max. So how many Team matches can your Regions Teams realistically handle in that time (remember to figure worst case), and that is the number of Teams your Region can support.

What will actually designate a Region? I am thinking now that language will probably be the major categorizer for Region divisions. Right now we have English, German, French, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Italian, Swedish, Dutch, Spanish, etc., etc.. Exactly how many Clans and Teams from those Clans will be participating is beyond guesswork at this point.

Some groups will be small enough to be merged with others, some large enough to split into subdivisions. Until the Sign-ups come in, there is just no way to know.

Thanks Kar, there is some very useful thinking in there. Exactly how we can apply it will rest on a few other undecided factors.

Right off the top, I was considering the Round Robin's to be a single one hour game with every Team in the Region, adding up a score of total wins. My reasoning for the single game is practicality. And because there will be quite a few Teams to play against, if a game or two are lost out of character (not your usual best), there won't be much difference in the final consideration. That is; if your Team is good, it will definitely show.

Now equal footing between Regions is important, so playing a specific number of games would bring all to the Finals as equals. That sounds good, let's keep it in mind and see how it fits a little farther down the line in our planning.

Most all Clans are the same as yours, but still there is a certain root commonality that we can use. No division system will be totality true, but if we try, I believe we may be able to find a method to define majority area(s) that we can call your Region(s).

In the new CWC Member Registration I had ask for Primary Language, and Download Region (primary Steam download server), hoping to gain some kind of a pattern to work up a region division from. Perhaps I should have held back the Download Region and made that a Team question.

Some ideas on Team Region definition.

For instance, how many players in which time zones do you have?

Is there a heaver concentration in a specific zone or adjacent zones?

Are there enough players in both the Americas and Europe to support two Regional Teams?

Even if some players are not in the same time zone as others, if their individual schedules have then playing with a particular zone group, they could be considered belonging to that Region. You may have some of those?

It is truly more of a functionality division, than a geographical one. If you have a group players that play together on a regular basis, they probably play at near the same time on the same days. What is the Steam Download Region designation for the majority of those players?

I am not fixated on 4v4s, this whole competition was founded on 4v4s. I personally play 4v4s every weekend I can get online.

(But this may be a mute point as we still only have one 4v4 map, and community packs are not able to coexist with the new update).

I must not have explained the Regional concept correctly.

For instance, how many German Clans are there? Italian Clans? Russian Clans? Etc., etc., etc.. Probably many more than you know anything about. What if each of these basic language groups were to have their own Regional Competition, with their own Champion and Finalist recognition? This is the Regional Round Robin event.

And do you think that LONG is the only Clan in all of Asia or even just China? What if they had their own Regional, how many more Clans would be formed to have a chance to compete? And that "inspirational idea" will work its magic around the world.

And because these groups are all playing in there own local time zones, there is the best chance for them to have successful 4v4 games. The Final Playoff is something else, with its own problems, but Regionals should work as 4v4. Maybe we will need a dedicated server or something for international games? We'll have to see.

That "inspirational idea" might even infect Clans that have members split across continents or large countries. It may motivate them to organize Northern, Eastern, Western, or Southern divisions, to play in the local Regionals to represent their Clan.

Who knows? All you have to do is try sometimes, and you might be supprised at what might be accomplished

I was ramping up just in case things went forward instead of backwards with this last patch. But the handwriting is clearly on the wall this time, if there was ever any doubt, or ever any hope.

I don't think anyone needs worry about a contest this fall being a 4v4, or even a 3v3. Although all my life I have told myself to "never say never", there are times when things never do happen again…
